Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how Hiyo handles your data.

1. Information We Collect

Hiyo is a local-first app. We collect minimal data:

  • Transaction data: Amounts, categories, dates, notes, and account information you enter. This is stored locally on your device only.
  • Google account email: Only if you choose to use the Google Drive backup feature. Used solely to authenticate with Google Drive.
  • Purchase information: Processed entirely by Google Play or Apple App Store. We receive confirmation that you purchased Premium, but no payment details.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Hiyo does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
  • Your location
  • Your contacts
  • Your photos or files
  • Bank account or credit card numbers
  • Browsing history
  • Device identifiers for advertising
  • Any personally identifiable information on our servers

We have no servers that store your data. Hiyo has no analytics tracking, no ad networks, and no data brokers.

3. How We Use Your Information

The transaction data you enter is used solely to provide the expense tracking features within the app on your device. It never leaves your device unless you explicitly initiate a Google Drive backup.

4. Third-Party Services

Hiyo integrates with these third-party services:

  • Google Drive: Optional. Used only when you manually trigger a backup or restore. Data is stored in your personal Google Drive. We do not access or read your backup files.
  • Google Play Store / Apple App Store: For app distribution and in-app purchase processing. Subject to their respective privacy policies.

5. Data Storage & Security

  • All data is stored locally in a SQLite database on your device.
  • Data is protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, biometrics).
  • Google Drive backups use Google's encryption and security standards.
  • We recommend keeping your device locked and backing up your data regularly.

6. Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:

  • Access: All your data is visible within the app at any time.
  • Edit: You can modify any transaction, category, or account.
  • Delete: You can delete individual transactions or all data by uninstalling the app.
  • Export: You can export your data to CSV or Excel at any time.

7. Children's Privacy

Hiyo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the app, please note that all data is local and under your control.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
